Health ministry
MISSION
The Health Department promotes a healthy lifestyle in the church and its social environment. It encourages members to offer a sincere and living testimony in all places, which awakens a spirit of inquiry and opens the way for the action of the Holy Spirit in people’s lives.
PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
The philosophy of the Health Ministries department is based on the fundamental belief of the fullness of humanity, which is: man created, redeemed and fully glorified.
Imitating Jesus as he reaches out to those he has come to save and responds to their needs.
GOALS
The Inter-American Division Health Ministries Department aims to achieve the following goals:
- Promote physical, mental, social, and spiritual health at all levels of the organization, as well as in our institutions, in preparation for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Initiate the training of health instructors and promoters in the churches.
- Serve young Adventists and non-Adventists in particular, as they prepare to become future leaders in the Church and the world.
- Actively integrate Adventist professionals into the Church’s health and temperance ministries, encouraging them to bear witness to Adventist health teachings, applying them first and foremost in their own lives.
- Constantly seek ways to enhance the growth and development of our institutions in terms of medical care, so that they can support the Church’s ministry. Indeed, a healthy spirit does not only mean being healed, but also preventing disease risks and helping souls overcome their sinful lifestyle and its consequences.
- Systematically integrate health teachings into the study programs of our Theology and Education faculties, in order to better prepare and equip our preachers and educators. Promote health in various ways. Set up vegetarian restaurants, organize, sponsor, and participate in peaceful, public demonstrations against the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, etc.
- Work with other health promotion organizations without compromising our originality and identity.
